Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Jeff Brown is a champion of cognitive-behavioral psychology.  Brown not only walks along side clients who want to manage inconvenient psychological symptoms, but also teaches individuals how to apply research-based strategies  to fine tune their brains and optimize life. Outside of his private practice, Brown is the psychologist for the Boston Marathon medical team and is on Runner’s World magazine’s scientific advisory board. As the Boston Marathon psychologist, he provides clinical consultation and intervention to runners on race day and has had the privilege of working with dedicated physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals over the last decade.

Dr. Brown’s psychology expertise has been cited by The New York Times, ESPN, The Wall Street JournalThe Boston GlobeWoman’s Day magazine, FOX News, Family CircleBoston Magazine, and ABC.com. His witty and meaningful messages are frequently heard by audiences at various conferences and events across the country.

The Winner’s Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success is one of Brown’s most popular books. It blends cutting-edge brain science and cognitive-behavioral psychology, all of which take aim at calibrating the brain for success. Co-authored with neuroscientist colleague Mark Fenske, Ph.D. and writer Liz Neporent, The Winner’s Brain is available in multiple languages. His first book, The Competitive Edge: How to Win Every Time You Compete, props up personal integrity in the midst of fierce competition.

In 2010, Dr. Brown received an honorary doctorate from the University of Central Missouri.  According to the University’s official proclamation, “In recognition of his outstanding contributions to education and to the field of sport psychology that have made him an inspiration to others, the University of Central Missouri proudly confers its highest honor, the degree of Doctor of Science, upon its worthy and deserving alumnus and friend, Dr. Jeffrey Brown.”
